MODULES

See below for current module outlines.

Module #1 – iMovie (1 – 4 people)

This module can be in collaboration with other students in the class.

Using the iMovie application, you may choose to create (but not limited to) one of the following:

  • Short film

  • Podcast

  • Documentary

  • Music Video

  • Family video

  • Travel Log

  • PSA (Public Service Announcement)

  • Stop Motion

There are a number of other applications you can choose to include with this (garage band, iPhoto, voki, flash, etc…).  Be creative.  The ideas are endless here – use your imagination and don’t be afraid to make mistakes: some of our best work comes from our mistakes!

You (or your group) are responsible for gathering original footage (photography, videography…), editing it and compiling it into your iMovie project.  Don’t forget, you have a green screen room to help you with those creative shots!

Module #2 – Garage Band (1 – 4 people)

Using original lyrics, create your music to accompany them using garage band instruments and sounds.  You may use and record ‘real time’ instruments to use in your song.  The song MUST be an original and not a cover of another song. Good earphones are a must for this Module!

Module #3 – Comic Life (1-2 People)

Do you like to draw?  How about writing stories?  Use the Comic Life application to create your own comic magazine.  Use original artwork (either drawn or digitally created) to bring your pages to life!  Come up with your character(s), and let your imagination run wild!

Module #4 – Sketchup (Individual)

Do you have an eye for design or architecture?  With this program you can create 3Dimensional houses, buildings or communities.  Use this App to create a true to scale blueprint.  A tutorial may be necessary for this Module as it is very advanced and there are many features to understand.  It’s like Minecraft on steroids!

Module #5 – Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint (Individual)

Rubric

Using the popular Microsoft Applications, you will learn how to input information into Excel and create graphs.  You will also be required to interpret your information into Word and PowerPoint Presentations.

Create a website based on a personal interest (photography, travel blog, business, portfolio, etc…).  If you are familiar with HTML from scratch you may choose to use this method – it is challenging and time consuming, but rewarding just the same.  Or, you may opt to use an online web designing program such as Wix or Weebly.  This Module allows you to show off your creativity and interests on one platform.  How exciting is that!

Module #6 – Website Design

Module 7 – Create an App

Have you ever wanted to be the creator of your very own game?  How about having people turn on their smartphones and downloading a game app that you created!  In this advanced Module you can do just that!  Using programs like GameSalad Creator (as an example) you can learn the basics and start making games in about an hour.

Module 8 – Your Choice

Is there something not on the list that you’d like to do?  Talk to your teacher and let’s see what we can come up with.  You may have an idea worth sharing – lets create a new module together!
